An interface, accessible from popular desktop tools, enables users to programmatically store and disseminate information to and from the Department's Executive Management Group easily and securely.

EDS have built this proof of concept using Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server to manage very large lists of documents and offers integration into desktop tools to ensure that it allows information to be disseminated quickly, efficiently and securely.
Microsoft Senior Consultant, Mike Seyfang explains further: “We made very clever use of the web storage system – the engine behind SharePoint Portal Server - to programmatically put information into SharePoint via a desktop tool, using the business rules stored in the Active Directory. Users are able to pull out lists of documents based on a URL query that can be stored anywhere. This technique is going to apply to anyone who wants to better manage documents in a web environment."
